The Emerson Amendment

5 Jun

#ReverbBroads12 prompt for June 5, 2012: Come up with a new Constitutional Amendment. via Art and Soul

This is going to be super hippy dippy and altruistic and I like it that way. When pontificating about what’s wrong with the world today, I often think things would be better if people could just be nice. Take all this bullying that’s been in the public eye as of late. It’s horrible. Truly. My heart absolutely breaks for the victims, but will legislation and rules really make people JUST BE NICE? I’m not sure that it would.  That bums me out.

On the same token, I think things would be better if people didn’t take things SO seriously. It feels good to laugh once in awhile, especially at ourselves (speaking for myself only).

Same thing with the honesty. Some of the messes that the world seems to be in is because someone didn’t tell the truth. It seems like with certain situations it’s like asking a toddler covered in lipstick if they got into their mom’s make up while they vehemently deny any wrong doing. REALLY?!

Owning it: You’re doing it right.

Be silly.

Be honest.

Be kind.

Those are the rules.

Along with several amazing people, I’m participating in #ReverbBroads12, a month-long writing exercise full of interesting and thought provoking writing prompts that always seem to be the kick in the pants I always need to start writing again.

Agreed. A little kindness goes a long, long way.
